I thought it was free!!!

alrite...when i got this app, it was free and when i was told there was an update for it, i knew it was going to inprove it so i wanted to get it, then i noticed that u have to pay 0.99 cents for it...i want to get the update but am i able to get it for free since i already had the app? i want to know before i do it and is it worth the 0.99 cents?
